7 April - Day 55

When I first moved to Perth, my future husband showed off his barbeque skills by cooking beer can chicken. With this recipe, a whole chicken is seasoned and slowly cooked on the barbeque, on top of a beer can. The cooking method is a bit unorthodox, but I have to admit that the result was very good.

6 April - Day 54

The Australian Ringneck is only found in Australia. In Western Australia, these parrots are known as Twenty-Eights, because of their contact call - a whistled 'twen-ty-eight'. "M's" parents have several Twenty-Eights on their block. The second picture was taken at their house.

5 April - Day 53

These kangaroo statues are in the city. We walked by them on the way back from our Easter lunch and I couldn't resist taking a few photos.

Happy Easter!

"M" and I went to lunch with his parents at C restaurant. C is a revolving restaurant providing beautiful views of Perth. I've previously posted a night time picture from the restaurant but this is the first time we have been there during the day. The first picture is taken from the restaurant (33 floors above the city). The Supreme Court building is in the lower part of the picture. The second picture is of the Supreme Court building as we walked past it on the way back to our car.

3 April - Day 52

Clearly, I have lost all control of the back yard. Even the dog is looking at me like I don't belong back there : ) "M" and his Dad (aka CM) are working on screening the big green shed using pine poles and lattice. Once that's done, we hope to have a beautiful climbing vine to disguise what lurks behind! I'll be sure to post an update once the work is complete. As with everything else that M & CM have done, it is sure to look great. To my Dad & Trudi who are arriving in a few short weeks - Don't worry, it won't look so much like a battlefield when you get here : )

2 April - Day 51

These pictures are of The Swan Bells in Perth and the city view from the bell tower. We considered holding our wedding reception on the top level. This building also provides a beautiful view of the Swan River.

This historic ring of bells was given to the people of Western Australia as part of the national Bicentennial celebrations in 1988. Among its many attributes the Bell Tower includes the twelve bells of St Martin-in-the-Fields, which are recorded as being in existence from before the 14th century and recast in the 16th century by Queen Elizabeth I. The bells were again recast between 1725 and 1770 by three generations of the Rudhall family of bell founders from Gloucester in England, under the order of the Prince of Wales who was later crowned as King George II. They are one of the few sets of royal bells and are the only ones known to have left England.
